If one would be searching for positives on the Crimson Devil, they would find none - even her name strikes with a sharp, unnerving tone. With the mutated, scaled hide offering extra protection, she excels in both offense and defense. Her aggressive nature makes her a combustible force of nature, attacking near anything and everything moving within her sight. One wouldn’t want to be in her way, since Värttinä trusts her horns first and foremost, and knows exceptionally well how to utilize them. She’s knowledgeable, quick and precise with her strikes, rendering most helpless against her attacks. Her natural weapon also offers a way of sick satisfaction on a hunt for smaller prey, as she impales such critters with her horns and lets them bleed out on her forehead. Yet, she rarely consumes them.
Värttinä is infamous for her cannibalistic tendencies, and more often than not, she turns to her brethren for a meal. She was only a pup herself when she discovered her thirst for kukuri blood, starting out easy with a sister’s tail. Despite being a twisted mess from the start, the crimson dove only declined into her madness because of the prairie rook that raised her. She was taken from her kin against her will, as the young rook thought she was abandoned. Not experienced with pups or raising creatures in the first place, his good intentions only made matters worse. Lucky to even be alive, poor feather duster.
Unlike one would assume, the Crimson Devil is not detached from reality. She’s intelligent, and her mood is easy enough to read from her expressive eyes, even by any trainers unlucky to cross her. It is unknown how she is able to understand speech, or at least body language, of many species not her own.
The Crimson Devil is more complex than one might assume outright by her sheer aggression and ability to use her mass and defensive capabilities in combat. Yet, there’s only one word that describe her perfectly, as she garners no sympathy from others, nor does she want their pathetic pity. There’s no doubt that Värttinä is, indeed,
a monster.
